Brunel is part of the London Bus Network and so there are many routes that travel around the local area, as well as into central London, which cost £1 a trip with an oyster card, £2 without one. To travel into Uxbridge, the main buses are the U3 which stops outside Mill Hall (Cleveland Road) and the U1 and U4 which stop on the other side of the campus, in Kingston Lane.
Brunel is situated about a mile from Uxbridge Underground Station, which can be reached in 20 mins by foot or 5 mins by bus. Uxbridge is the final stop on the line, and is served by both the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines, which head into Central London.
Parking and Permit Information:
Students tend to avoid taking cars to Uxbridge and the University due to the sparse parking areas and the cost of running a car in the outskirts of London. Due to the excellent transport services, a car is not a necessity.
Living in Brunel:
Brunel University is located in West London and is only a short distance from Central London and approximately 10 minutes drive/bus ride from the centre of Uxbridge.
Transport links to Central London are plentiful and readily available.
Brunel university is a campus based university and all local facilities are dotted around the campus including a number of bars and food outlets, shops and even a club called the Academy which caters for up to 600 students. This venue therefore being one of the central locations for student’s to socialise when they are not working!
Sports facilities at Brunel University are outstanding and the recent development of £14 million into the sports complex has ensured that the university has top class facilities for both elite athletes and amateurs to compete in a range of 40 different sports. The assortment of courses and talents at Brunel can be exhibited in the Arts Centre which is the principal position for dance, music, drama and media production students. However, if you just have a talent for arts there are a number of ways in which you can get involved with arts at Brunel including student membership and the music awards.
Brunel offers a variety of shops, bars, restaurants and a nightclub, which hosts a number of student nights throughout the week. The academy is the University’s student union and offers various theme nights throughout the different terms at University. Furthermore, the central of Uxbridge offers a number of popular locations including Liquid.An exciting club where you really need to be seen. Alongside this there are also a number of bars and restaurants to enjoy and ofcourse London is only a short distance away for that really special night out.
There are a range of great shopping areas and centres for you to experience!! In the heart of the city there is a shopping centre called “Chimes”. Chimes have a combination of both shopping facilities alongside leisure facilities with a cinema and a variety of food locations. Secondly, the “Mall” shopping centre in Uxbridge has an outstanding amount of great stores.
